Halestorm are no strangers to covers, having already released one covers collection and recently discussing ideas for a second. But during a trip to an Idaho radio station, the band quickly learned and cranked out one track they might not have had in their arsenal -- Joe Esposito's 'You're the Best Around.'

For the uninitiated, Esposito's song first gained traction as part of the soundtrack of the '80s film, 'The Karate Kid,' and its anthemic drive and association with the movie's montage has made it quite the cult favorite over the years. The track is currently being used as the KQXR morning show theme and during a visit to the station, Halestorm were convinced to record it for the station's usage.

X-Rock 100.3 morning show host Big J tells us, "We had been wanting to get it recorded by a band, but we could only dream that Halestorm, a band we have supported from the very beginning, would do this for us. They practiced the song a few times, and they just not only killed it but had fun with it. Now it gets played every morning for our intro song."

As can be seen in the video, the group did have a good time with it as Lzzy Hale is smiling throughout while checking the lyrics on her phone and Joe Hottinger and Arejay Hale add various backing vocals, grunts and even the ad-lib, "Idaho … I love your potatoes" for good measure. As the track was an acoustic session, the song is stripped back with drummer Arejay Hale keeping the beat with a bongo.

The group also performed their current single, 'Freak Like Me,' acoustically as part of their 'X Session' set. Both videos can be seen below. Halestorm are currently out on tour with Bullet for My Valentine as part of the HardDrive Live tour. The remaining dates can be seen here.
