99% of bass players are pretty much interchangeable. You hop on stage, slappa-da-bass, and try your best to keep time with the drummer. What you normally end up with is that traditional oompa sound. Not to say bass players don't have their place, because a world without Lemmy, Geddy, Les, or Flea wouldn't be filled with sound at all... But what if the bass did more?

This guy, known for his unique bass talents. Ever heard slide bass? He does it. Mixing metal riffs with jazz structure? He does that too. But his experiment in putting the 'guitar' back into 'bass guitar' is an awesome thought. It might be the next emerging style that finally elevates bass players off the bottom of the pile to their rightful place above rhythm guitar.
