Machine Head Offer Update on Bassist Search, Announce New Mayhem Off-Date With Mastodon
Machine Head are getting closer to rounding out their lineup for their summer's Mayhem Festival. The group revealed that they've completed the submission process to fill their vacant bassist slot and are taking the next step.
In a posting, they revealed, "Machine Head have decided on the bassists they would like to rehearse with and as of today everybody has been notified for the second stage of tryouts with the band. We want to thank everyone for their patience and [we] will keep all submissions on file."
The group parted ways with longtime bassist Adam Duce earlier this year and opened up the audition process by taking submissions over the last couple of months.
As Machine Head prepare for Mayhem, frontman Robb Flynn has been reflecting on the band's past appearance on the 2011 edition of the festival. He recalls, "It was a blur, a fun and often times insane blur that when I look back I'm amazed I survived." He also goes on to talk about a cardboard cut-out of himself that made the rounds at Mayhem 2011 and the crazy things that bands such as Suicide Silence and Disturbed did with it. As for their tour schedule, Machine Head continue to build their itinerary in anticipation of filling out their lineup. They recently revealed their 'Road to Mayhem' headlining dates, as well as some shows supporting Rob Zombie. Now they've added a new Mayhem "off-date" to the run, playing Cleveland's House of Blues with Mastodon on July 25.
