New Report Refutes AC/DC Retirement Rumors

AC/DC
Columbia Records

Are the rumors of AC/DC‘s retirement overblown? Perhaps! Billboard reports that it has learned from industry insiders that there’s no truth to the rumor. Adding to the confusion is that the group’s management and label have chosen not to comment on the matter as of yet.

It’s been a flurry of conflicting rumors surrounding the band and their future. It all started with an Australian radio station entertainment reporter revealing that we may have seen the last of AC/DC and that there was “some sad detail” behind the pending retirement decision. According to Noise 11, the station reportedly got the info from an anonymous tipster going by the name ‘Thunderstruck’ who emailed the info that the band was considering retirement after Malcolm Young had fallen ill, and the story quickly spread.

Those rumors briefly appeared to be thwarted when The Australian reported just the opposite, that the group had booked studio time to record a new album in Vancouver, Canada, beginning May 1.

But the retirement rumor gained more traction today as The Orstrahyun reported that guitarist Malcolm Young suffered a stroke and wouldn’t be able to play anymore.

We’re hoping that the latest report from Billboard refuting the retirement rumors is closest to the truth, but we’ll keep you posted as more news develops.
