It's a surprising thought, but Oklahoma has been steadily growing in population for over a decade.

Not that you would believe it while listening to angsty locals who are convinced Texas or Colorado are perfect states and constantly talk about leaving, but we're growing.

So where are people moving from? That's always the follow up question when Sooner State expansion is brought up. While the #1 state is obvious, the rest are curious.

Like, honestly, who packs up the family to make a change from the frozen tundra of Alaska for the unforgiving arid sandy soils of Oklahoma? But to each their own.

California is shockingly high on the list too, and the response to that news is generally the same. I mentioned it to my Boomer parents, and they responded with the same "Better not bring their pinko-commie politics with 'em..." but I'd wager it's the conservative Orange County-type Californians skipping back to Oklahoma a century after their ancestors fleed the Dust Bowl.
