Filipino politician Reynaldo Dagsa got more than a mere family snapshot on New Year's Eve: he also captured evidence of his own assassination. According to Philippine news site Inquirer.net, the city councilman from Manila was out with his wife, daughter and another relative in the early hours of January 1st. Dagsa readied his camera to take a photo of the three on a city street when a gunman appeared in frame and shot at Dagsa just as he shot the picture. He was hit in the arm and chest and pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

The resulting image is a frightening one: while his family smiles in the foreground, Dagsa's killer holds a gun at eye-level, ready to fire. The gunman has been identified as Michael Gonzales, a criminal whom the late councilman put behind bars last year. Gonzales is said to have had two accomplices the night of the shooting and Filipino police are on the hunt for the pair.
