The Public Mansions in Oklahoma That You Can Explore
I'm convinced that most of what drives someone crazy is a lack of having a life. Social media has made this even worse as we tend to live our lives online rather than in person these days. Instead of doing the same thing day in and day out, maybe a little travel is just what you need.
While it remains one of the younger states in the union, Oklahoma has a deeper history than you think. The Sooner State has been the territory of four different countries... Spain, France (Louisiana), The Republic of Texas, and the USA.
Oklahoma also features more diversity, ecologically speaking, than almost any other bordered place in the world. Add in the history of Indian Territory and the land runs that welcomed settlers and the short history since then is just as interesting.
Whether they were oil barons, lovers of art, politicians, or businessmen, some of Oklahoma's most grand homes are open to the public to explore. Yes, some of them do cost a little money for the privilege to tour, which is spent to preserve the homes for others to enjoy in the future.
The locations of these historic homes all exist North of I-40 in a sort of triangle of travel between OKC, Tulsa, and the I-35 corridor of North-Central Oklahoma. Still, each one is definitely worth the trip if you love history as much as most people do.
If your excuse to instantly take a hard pass on this experience is "Can't go, I have kids..." no worries. Your kids will enjoy it as much as you... Especially the wilds of Woolaroc.
Don't settle for living a small and boring life... Get out and explore some of the richest history this state has to offer.
