Ruby the Hatchet have been one of the underground's most prominent purveyors of psych-born, thunderous rock since their formation a few years ago. They're poised to release Planetary Space Child, their third full length album, and have traversed the cosmos to partner with Loudwire for the premiere of the music video for the record's title track.

Sci-fi enthusiasts, pay attention because this is a vintage styled video acting as a throwback to all those cheesy space-faring flicks of yesteryear. "Planetary Space Child" floats endlessly through interstellar worlds, driven by a simple, hypnotic lick that's milked for all it's got (which is a lot), accented by psychedelic tinged leads as clips of cosmic travelers, both friends and enemies, explore distant worlds. In an underground musical realm saturated with witchy, retro-occult psych-rock, Ruby the Hatchet come out on top.

"We didn't realize 'Planetary Space Child' was going to be the title track for the album, but it ended up being the perfect summation," says vocalist Jillian Taylor. "Lyrically, this song is a perspective play from ancient kings to sci-fi space beings. Create. Destroy. Repeat. It's an imaginative play on the cyclical nature of humanity and the music rides the theme, 'Don't I know you from another world?'"

Planetary Space Child will be out on Aug. 25 through TeePee records, but you don't have to wait for the album's release to snag your copy. Pre-orders are available now at the label's webstore with your choice of CD or LP and you can catch the band live at any of the dates listed below.
