Supergroup Art of Anarchy have been the center of much confusion lately, which is bizarre in that the band hasn't released a single piece of music yet. Though Art of Anarchy have recorded a full album and have shared press photos featuring singer Scott Weiland, the vocalist now claims in a new video interview with Billboard that he "was never in the band" (watch above).

Along with Weiland, Art of Anarchy boasts a lineup that includes guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns N’ Roses), bassist John Moyer (Disturbed), guitarist Jon Votta and drummer Vince Votta. The band's debut album will impact this coming spring, but don't expect Weiland to stick around.

In a post written by Weiland, he distanced himself from Art of Anarchy by claiming he would not tour with the band, instead choosing to focus his energy on Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts:

Bumblefoot didn't take Weiland's decision personally, welcoming the singer's right to embark on whatever he felt was best. “Art of Anarchy is not competition or a threat or interference to what any of us are doing — it’s a complement, an addition, one I’m proud of creatively," said Bumblefoot. "No need to minimize or undermine or devalue a project we all worked on together over the course of two years. I enjoyed working with Scott.

In the new interview with Billboard, Weiland disconnected himself further from AoA. "I was never in the band," Weiland says of Art of Anarchy. "It was something I did when I wasn't doing anything. I was asked to write some lyrics and sing some melodies on this project, but it's not a band I'm in. This [Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts] is my band."

Stay tuned for more news on all parties involved and get ready for Art of Anarchy's debut album coming soon. Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts' debut album, 'Blaster,' will hit shelves on March 31.
