The Black Dahlia Murder Hit Hard With New Song ‘Matriarch’
The Black Dahlia Murder are closing in on the release of their Nightbringers album, but before the disc drops, the band has another new song to whet your appetite. "Matriarch" is the brutal new track from the group that's ready to blow through your speakers in the player above.
Opening with a couple of Alan Cassidy cymbal crashes and some dextrous aggressive guitar work and double kick drum overload, the band sets a rapid pace early before Trevor Strnad digs in with some heavily brutal vocals. Take a listen to the track in the player above and if you like what you hear, it's currently available to download via Bandcamp, Apple Music and Spotify.
The song itself is featured on the Nightbringers album, and the band also recently debuted the title track from the disc. You can check that out here. Look for the album arriving Oct. 6 via Metal Blade Records. The label has all your pre-order and bundle package information located here.
Speaking about the album and its title earlier this year, Strnad stated, “Death metal and nighttime are synonymous to me. We are the rulers of the darkened hours that the Christian good fears. A lot of archaic ideas that are still upheld – such as marriage and monogamy – came from Christianity, whether people want to acknowledge it or not, and to me, death metal has always been bucking that. It’s ‘being-the-villain music,’ because we’re the enemy of Christianity, the enemy of all that is good and traditional. Death metal is for free thinkers, it’s for showing people the path to inner strength and operating on your own will, instead of being told what to do and living in fear, and songs like the title track and ‘Kings of the Nightworld’ are about leading a legion of awakened minds into battle.”
Look for the Black Dahlia Murder on tour, starting up the machine Oct. 5 in Pittsburgh with dates booked through Nov. 12 in Indianapolis. See all of their scheduled dates listed here.
