As the International Space Station turns 18 years old, technology has come a long way allowing all humans to see a different view of themselves.

It's calming and amazing to watch the world float by from Earths highest scientific laboratory. There is no outrage, no protests, no violence... With the exception of the occasional equipment and camera movement noise, it's just pure silence.

It's an ideal place for scientists & space cowboys to study both the cosmos and our respective planet. But it's also a laboratory that's often under threat of shutting down. Not because of the kind of stuff we all saw in 'Gravity,' but rather funding that's very steep, and not always available. We've already ditched our shuttle programs due to cost, not to mention some damning safety issues. The aerospace industry is one operating in the trillions of dollars. That's why only a few countries are afforded this technological luxury.

Regardless, hit play. Relax. Remember how small our worries really are.
