Yesterday, Microsoft announced quite a few new features that the Xbox One will be seeing. However, the biggest news was the option to purchase a console without the Kinect camera bundled, which in turn dropped the price of the console from $499 to $399 to match Sony's Playstation 4.

The answer to that actually can only be answered by the consumer. In the Wii-360-PS3 generation, many of the home console players that stuck with Sony since PS1 did jump ship to the Wii and 360 because both consoles were cheaper in price. Remember, when the PS3 was released it came out with an eye-popping $499-$599 price tag depending on the memory storage. The Xbox 360 was only $299 to $399 depending on if you wanted the Core bundle or the Premium bundle and the Wii was only $250 at launch.

With price being a major factor the scaled tipped to Wii and 360 being the dominant consoles in the household.

With this new generation and era we are entering so far we've seen the Wii U falling apart, The Xbox One being dazed, stubborn and confused and the PS4 taking an early lead. At this moment, the Wii U is still trying to figure itself out like a high school kid trying to find itself in the awkward years, Microsoft is now trying to pull a "If I do what the popular kids are doing, I'm sure to be popular" move and PS4 is still trying to pull forward with the early momentum.

Now, I'm not going to discuss how pulling this move will have gamers shoving each other to the local game store to get their hands on an Xbox One without Kinect, because that's not how it works. Does the move of dropping the "required" camera and "required" Xbox Live subscription for services such as Neflix and Hulu going to win over some gamers, yes. Will it win everybody over and cause a massive move to the new Xbox now that Microsoft has seen the error in it's ways, No.

Some gamers still feel the sting of the almost forced DRM and "always on" requirement from last year and the fact that no one in Microsoft actually knew what was going on to begin with - The presentation of the next console was a complete mess and shook the trust in those customers because they didn't know what Microsoft was doing, and neither did Mircosoft at the time.

There is no doubt that some of these changes will bring back the gamers that shunned the Xbox One when first announced, afterall no more required camera, no more forced subscription and free games every month right? Now where have you heard this before? Sony and the Playstation; these unrequired subscriptions and bonuses for subscribing were already in place and now Xbox is seeing that and bringing it to their customers.

Being competitive is all apart of moving forward and advancing in many industries. The fact that Microsoft pulled this move earlier than some people have predicted ups the ante, especially as Fall fast approaches with the new titles getting ready to go.

With both consoles now $399, it's just a matter of picking your favorite one and what games and titles the consumer prefers. No matter if you personally like PS4, The One or even the Wii U for that matter. If the rest of the market does or doesn't it that will be the system which will come out on top in this generation of the console wars.

Remember your personal opinion doesn't matter, the majority of the market does.
