Sleet, Snow and Ice make for bad road conditions so be safe out there with these tips.

1. Staff bundled- Dress in layers, this helps keep you warm and properly insulated. When going out put on a sweater or a fleece. Also be sure to wear a hat for 60% of your body heat can escape through an uncovered head.

2. Keep your faucet dripping- During the winter months the water in the pipes can freeze and if it happens it expands. This can also cause water that is not frozen to increase in pressure and burst. By keeping your faucet dripping this will provide relief from the excessive pressure that builds between the faucet and the ice blockage when freezing occurs.

3. Icy Roads- When driving on icy roads be sure to decrease your speed and be sure to leave plenty of room between you and other vehicles and be sure to gently hit the brakes when skidding.

4.Keep your pets warm- Keep your pets inside as often as you can. If you pet lives outdoors make sure they have access to a solid structure that can protect them from the wind and keep them warm. Also give them a pet sweater the extra layer will help keep their body temperature up.
