Lawton High did what good teams do, get ahead early, run the football and pull away late. The defense led by Kieth Thierry and Levi Cain kept the Stillwater Pioneers from pounding the ball on the ground, and it made good on a point to limit receiver Jordan Brown, a University of Tulsa commit who had only two touches on offense. By following that game plan, the Wolverines we able to leave Pioneer Stadium with a 24-0 win against Stillwater Friday night.

Stillwater hung around early with Lawton, but failed to generate much offense as the Wolverine’s rushing attack eventually wore down their opponent and the Wolverine defense held the Pioneers (2-4, 1-1) to only 97 yards of total offense on the night. Quarterback Jace Brownlee accounted for 80 of those, rushing for 32 yards and throwing for another 48. Wide receiver Jordan Brown, who was the main focus of the Lawton defense, caught only two passes for 22 yards.

The Stillwater defense appeared to need one drive to get ready for the contest. The Pioneers allowed Lawton to score on a two-play, 64-yard drive to open the game. After tailback Tre Curry ran for 12 yards on the first play from scrimmage, quarterback Zack Hanna found Marcheenan Hair for a 52-yard score. Hair finished the night with five catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard score in the third quarter. Hair also appeared to make a spectacular catch in the end zone over two defenders, but the pass was ruled incomplete.

Hanna was 11-of-18 passing for 180 yards and two touchdowns on the night. Hair totaled 143 yards receiving on 5 catches, while also picking up 11 yards on two carries on the ground. Jayquan Lincoln led the way with 11 tackles on defense, while defensive end Keith Thierry totaled 5 sacks in the game.
