In the extended version of this year’s highly anticipated Volkswagen Super Bowl ad, a chubby dog named Bolt puts himself on a weight loss plan so he can catch a 2012 VW Beetle. And Darth Vader himself appears in a reference to VW’s awesome “Vader Kid” commercial from last year.

While on tour of duty in Afghanistan, soldier Donny Eslinger adopted an adorable dog that he named Smoke-pup Barbarian. But after he was critically wounded during a mortar attack and shipped to Germany, Eslinger was forced to leave the pooch behind.
