Hockey goalie masks have evolved spectacularly since the days of the Jason Voorhees drab white shell. Country music was the inspiration for goalie Brody Hoffman of the University of Vermont. He has an image of Taylor Swift on one side of his hockey mask and Eric Church on the other.

Mike Fisher is a fan favorite in the town of Nashville. He's also a favorite around these offices because the guy plays hockey for a living, he's a philanthropist and is married to the gorgeous Carrie Underwood. We have this jealous admiration for him where we keep wishing slightly bad things to happen like a really painful hangnail or spotty cell phone service. We've got issues.

You never want to see something tragic like this happen in sports but you know it's always a real possibility.

Martin Tremblay is going to spend some time in the legal system’s version of the penalty box.

Hockey is the sports equivalent of extreme metal. Much like the pit at any metal show, the hockey rink is home to copious amounts of blood, brutal fights, broken teeth, shattered bones and all that good stuff. Metal Blade Records obviously shares that sentiment, as the label is teaming up with minor league ice hockey team the Trenton Titans, who are now the official hockey team of metal.
