Point Break

This year marks the 25th anniversary of two very special Keanu Reeves films: Point Break and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. But what makes this particular anniversary so significant is that these movies weren’t released within a few months of each other — they were released just seven days apart. It may very well have been the weirdest and most wonderful week in new movie release history, and one that hasn’t really been replicated since.

The world wasn’t exactly crying out for a remake of Point Break, but here we are. We didn’t ask for a modern take on Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 action semi-classic, but maybe we did something to deserve it. Then again, if the new trailer is any indication, we don’t know what anyone could have possibly done to deserve this movie happening to them.

Just last week we reported that the 'Point Break' remake suffered a blow, losing leading man Gerard Butler just weeks before the film was scheduled to begin shooting. But the production team hasn't wasted any time finding his replacement: Edgar Ramirez, star of the upcoming horror flick 'Deliver Us From Evil' (which just dropped a new spooky trailer today) will take Butler's place.

The cult classic 'Point Break' is being remade, and finally they've found the man who will step into the shoes of Keanu Reeves' Johnny Utah. That man: Luke Bracey, who you've probably never heard of.

As we previously reported, 20th Century Fox has plans in the works to remake 'Point Break,' the classic undercover-agent movie that starred Keanu Reeves as he worked to infiltrate a gang of bank robbers/surfers led by Patrick Swayze. But who is the right fit to assume one of these roles, you ask? The answer, according to the studio, is 'Olympus Has Fallen' action star Gerard Butler.

1991's 'Point Break' is the latest film to be dusted off for remaking, as former cinematographer Ericson Core has been hired to direct it, and there's already a finished script. Which means this might actually happen. Great.
