Thor: The Dark World

There was no question of whether or not 'Thor: The Dark World' was going to open at number one this weekend. Of course it was. The big question was whether it would get a post-'Avengers' bump, or if it would do similar business to its 2011 predecessor. Question answered: it got a bump and a pretty good one, too.

It's a weekend filled with superpowers, as costumed heroes wielding magically-infused hammers return to theaters, along with a family of men who can travel through time.

This Comedy Central exclusive promo asks the question, Thor or Loki? In preparation for the upcoming Marvel flick the comedy network produced their own promo for the film.

A new 'Thor 2' clip has hit the airwaves, this time featuring the arrival of the villain from 'The Dark World,' Christopher Eccleston's Malekith the Accursed. As the leader of the Dark Elves, he awoke from his slumber and is ready to lay waste to the cosmos.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) have had a tumultuous relationship. After attempting to destroy his brother and claim the throne of Asgard in 'Thor,' the trickster god unleashed an alien army on New York City in 'The Avengers' and was taken back home in chains for it. But in 'Thor 2,' our title hero will have to put all this aside to defeat a dark new threat.

We've been raving about it for some time, but now the 'Thor 2' trailer that debuted during Comic-Con 2013 has finally arrived online.

If you weren't able to attend Comic-Con 2013 this weekend (or if you were there and didn't make it to Hall H on Saturday), you can now view the entire Marvel panel online and catch everything you missed, including 'Thor: The Dark World,' 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and the announcement of 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron.'

'Thor 2,' dubbed 'The Dark World,' will see Chris Hemsworth return as Marvel's mighty God of Thunder to crush some new foes with his hammer, and the first trailer is said to drop next week on April 23 (according to the film's international Facebook page). Hugo Weaving was fantastic as villain Red Skull in 'Captain America,' and the end of the movie left his future in the Marvel movie-verse uncertain, leaving us excited about his possible return. And now that return is seeming less likely, as Weaving says he's not interested in reprising the role.
