By now I'm sure most, if not all people, are aware of the shooting in Sanford, FL where 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman on (02-26-12). This story is important because of the racial divide taking place in our country. After a month of media hype we still have more questions than answers.

It depends on which side of the spectrum you're looking at this story. One side yells the young man died because he was simply black, the other side yells it was simply self-defense! One thing is for sure, a life was cut too short. The country is now left with the aftermath of this killing creating an inflamed racial debate throughout our nation.

Since the unfortunate story of Trayvon's death made the headlines every major network and local news channel have been reporting on the story. Not a lot of facts, evidence or actual eyewitness accounts have been a part of the reporting until recently.

Some witnesses say Zimmerman was on top of Trayvon and killed him in cold blood, while others say it happened the other way around and that Zimmerman was acting in self- defense. At this time Zimmerman hasn't been arrested as the police continue to investigate and interview witnesses.

In my opinion it’s too difficult to say one way or the other. I don't necessarily think Martin’s shooting was racially motivated. I do think Zimmerman thought of himself as some kind of wanna be cop or super hero.  I can say as a father of a teenage boy I can't even imagine what this family is going through. How would I feel if it were my son?  The best thing to do at this point is to take a step back and hope that all the facts will emerge giving us a complete picture of this tragic event.

Tell us what you think about this case?
