Truth is in perilously short supply these days, and whether in the spheres of politics or entertainment, reporters have had to adapt. It’s no longer enough to ferret out the actual reality of a situation and relay that to readers; writers must get out in front of and directly interface with the flurries of half-facts and hearsay that swirl around any major story. So the read on a new cache of purportedly leaked information regarding the upcoming Star Wars film is not so much “We may now know what happens in The Last Jedi” as much as it is “A Reddit user wants us to believe he knows what happens in The Last Jedi.”

For a guy whose entire acting career has been overshadowed by one role he played decades ago, Mark Hamill’s got a pretty good attitude. He loves Star Wars, and what’s more, he loves how much the people who love Star Wars love Star Wars. A regular fixture at conventions and other fan events, Hamill regularly gets in on the fun and mingles with his adoring public. And in a new video from Lucasfilms’ charity arm Force for Change, he gives a handful of diehard devotees the surprise of their lives.

Unlike the previous Obi-Wan Kenobi  —  sorry, Alec Guinness  —  Ewan McGregor has long been excited about the prospect of returning for more Star Wars movies, telling Empire Magazine last October that he was the “right age” to make two more movies as the beloved character. While fans were sometimes unimpressed by the prequels, McGregor’s winning performance as the young Jedi was one of the highlights of the film, leading fans to clamor for a standalone Kenobi movie while McGregor was still the right age.

On the latest episode of the YouTube series, The Star Wars Show, host Peter Townley unveiled a never-before-seen member of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cast. He may look like R2-D2 with a paint job, but that’s just because ... he looks like R2-D2 with a paint job. But this is a different droid! It’s C2-B5.

“There is a 97.6 percent chance of failure,” one of the characters says in the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, referring to their scheme to steal the plans for the Death Star. I’m not sure the percentage is that high for the movie itself, but it’s got to be up there. There’s a lot of risk for Rogue One, or at least as much risk as there can be for a Star Wars movie. It’s got to prove that there is life for the franchise beyond the main “saga” films. And it’s got to prove that a prequel can work in Star Wars (previously, it hasn’t always worked out for this property). Even in a galaxy far, far away, those are some awfully big questions.

There’s been an awakening in Australia.

There was a major awakening this past weekend at Star Wars Celebration Europe, which brought fans a handful of new details about ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.’

We all love the human heroes and villains of the ‘Star Wars’ universe, but the creatures that pop in throughout the films are some of the most imaginative characters the big screen has seen. From fuzzy creatures to bubble-eyed aliens to adorable blinking droids, the galaxy far, far away is full of diverse species, many of which were brought to life by hand.

When the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story panel opened at Star Wars Celebration last weekend, it did so with this video, in which the classic opening crawl from Star Wars began to glitch and sputter and then shifted in space. The words flew toward the camera and revealed the full Rogue One logo title treatment, as seen below:

With Disney throwing a massive amount of resources behind their new Star Wars property, one of the more interesting things to come out of Star Wars Celebration was the news that Luscasfilm would not shy away from using emerging technologies like virtual reality to tell Star Wars stories. Case in point? A brand new Darth Vader virtual reality experience, which the folks at Entertainment Weekly have written up alongside quotes from the producers and crew.
