ABC News and GMA Report Live From Lawton on COVID-19 Cases

Yesterday evening (11-17-20) ABC News was in Lawton, Fort Sill reporting live from local hospitals about the recent surge in positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. November has seen the biggest spike since the beginning of the pandemic and so far there are over 2 million new cases of the virus just this month and we still have 2 more weeks to go. The dreaded second wave has started and it's overwhelming our hospitals not just locally but Nationwide. This second wave is looking much worse than the first one.       

Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman was in town reporting live on ABC News last night and GMA (Good Morning America) this morning (11-18-20) speaking with local doctors and nurses about our current crisis. Our hospitals are at 100% capacity and are struggling to keep up with not only all the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, but other patient needs as well. They're running out of space, medications, ventilators and even medical staff are being stretched thin trying to combat the virus. Last week CCMH (Comanche County Memorial Hospital) added an additional COVID-19 unit due to increased hospitalizations.

Hopefully the second wave will slow, or better yet stop sometime soon. In the meantime we're seeing more and more cases as hospitals continue to struggle. Locally there are medical students assisting when and where they can and CCMH has asked that any former nurse, doctor or respiratory person or specialist that is available and interested in lending a hand please contact the hospital.
