So now that things are finally starting to improve and it's looking like we're on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, are you back to shaking hands and hugging people? I know I am. To be perfectly honest I never really stopped doing it, much to the disgust, shock and horror of others. I couldn't tell you how many times I'd stick my hand out or go to hug someone during the pandemic, it's a really hard habit to break. I do it all the time without even thinking about it. I felt bad, some people were terrified and I'd have to stop and remember "Oh' right we're not doing that anymore."  Surely I'm not the only one who struggled with this.

Things have gotten a lot better lately and with the vaccine and more and more people getting vaccinated I think most people feel safe when it comes to being around others. But what about shaking hands and hugging people? Is that still a no, no? Maybe it's just me but I feel comfortable shaking hands and giving hugs but some people are still a little nervous about it. Yesterday while out and about a person I know pretty well, but haven't seen in awhile absolutely didn't want to shake hands. That's okay, I get it. Or it could be that they didn't want to shake my hand...Who knows?

I'm not insulted and I certainly understand other peoples concern, especially if they haven't been vaccinated, or are in the high risk category. I still stick my hand out there without thinking, it's been ingrained in me and I'm having the hardest time breaking the habit. About the time I do is when we'll all be back to normal and shaking hands and hugging each other again. Some people are saying they hope the practice of shaking hands completely goes away and that we find some other form of greeting each other instead. That would be weird, I guess we could just wave or nod at each other.

Makes you wonder if we'll ever return to the "normal" people love to talk about so much. If we do away with the hand shake and hug you'll have to forgive me, it's going to take awhile to break the habit. I mean, it's been over a year now and I still haven't broken it yet. So how about you? Are you back to shaking hands and hugging people? Be a part of our unscientific study and take the quick poll below.
