I had the opportunity to be at the opening of the new exhibit at The Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center (CNMCC) today.  Through the Eyes of the Eagle: Illustrating Healthy Living for Children. This is a fun, colorful exhibit that children of all ages will enjoy.  It includes the original illlustrations from the 4 book series.   The exhibit also includes a lovely garden and play ideas for the children.

Organized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Diabetes Translation, native Diabetes Wellness Program and Global Healthy Odyssey Museum, the exhibit is designed to help prevent Type 2 diabetes using the classic story-telling methods of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives.

The exhibition is based on the book series written by Georgia Perez.  It features human and animal characters to encourage healthy eating and exercise among young children.

Through the Eyes of the Eagle will be on display through September 10th.  The Comanche National Museum is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.   Admittance to the museum is absolutely free and it's nice and cool inside.  It's a great way to spend a couple hours with your kids to put them on the path of healthy living!
