Comanche National Museum Opens New Children’s Exhibit
I had the opportunity to be at the opening of the new exhibit at The Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center (CNMCC) today. Through the Eyes of the Eagle: Illustrating Healthy Living for Children. This is a fun, colorful exhibit that children of all ages will enjoy. It includes the original illlustrations from the 4 book series. The exhibit also includes a lovely garden and play ideas for the children.
Organized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Diabetes Translation, native Diabetes Wellness Program and Global Healthy Odyssey Museum, the exhibit is designed to help prevent Type 2 diabetes using the classic story-telling methods of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives.
The exhibition is based on the book series written by Georgia Perez. It features human and animal characters to encourage healthy eating and exercise among young children.
