Disturbed Hit the Studio, Plus News on Sevendust, Frances Bean Cobain + More

In addition to the big stories we covered today, Wire-to-Wire provides you with some of the other key rock and metal news items from Jan. 31, 2018:

- Could a new Disturbed album, or at least new music, be in the works? The band was just announced as a headliner for this summer's Rock Fest and their social media accounts just posted an image of a recording studio console with the caption, "Getting started" along with the hashtag #disturbedones.

- In other studio news, Sevendust have revealed in a social media post that mastering has begun on their new album, their eleventh full-length studio release.  In July of last year, John Connolly predicted a spring 2018 release, but it appears the band got a later start than expected. We'll keep you up to date as release details are revealed.

- The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Frances Bean Cobain recently showed off her singing voice on an Instagram video of her singing the Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah." Check out how the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love delivers the track.

- Thursday have some special shows coming up. They've revealed that they plan to celebrate their 20th anniversary with some dates playing the Full Collapse and War All the Time albums in full. "The shows will be intimate, evoking the spaces we were playing when these records were written. We hope you'll join us," state the band in a press statement. So far, stops include San Francisco (April 25 & 26, Slim's), Los Angeles (April 27 & 28, Echoplex) and San Diego (April 29 & 30). Full Collapse will be played on the first nights while War All the Time gets the spotlight on the second.

- Bad Wolves are off to a great start with their cover of The Cranberries' "Zombie." The song is the No. 1 iTunes Metal Single, No. 2 iTunes Rock Single and is Shazam's third most researched track. The band's debut album is expected later this year.
