Ghost Reveal Papa Emeritus’ Seductive Origins in ‘Dance Macabre’ Video
Ghost have unleashed a sleek and erotic video for “Dance Macabre.” Zev Deans, who also helmed Ghost’s “Square Hammer” clip, directed the video, which is actually the second promo for the catchy song.
The clip follows the story of two party crashers that slide into a bizarre soiree. Two men enter a party at a mansion and quickly dive into the festivities dancing with girls having a good time until things take a turn for the worst. Watch the slick and bloody video in the player above.
The video is also notable as it tells the backstory of Ghost frontman “Papa Emeritus,” and how he got his iconic look. A woman seduces one of the men, who emerges with “Papa’s” iconic face paint and punches him in the eye creating a blue and bloodshot left eye.
The song itself touches on how many people coped with the Black Plague in Europe back in the 14th century by dancing and partying until they died.
In other Ghost news, a lawsuit filed against Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge by former bandmates was dismissed in a Swedish court. The judge ruled in favor of Forge, forcing the ex-Ghost musicians to pay the frontman’s legal fees.
Ghost are currently out on the road on their two-act "A Pale Tour Named Death" outing. They take the stage in Grand Prairie, Texas on Oct. 25. Ghost will open for Metallica on its 25-date European tour next summer. See all of their tour dates here.
