It's the time of year for uplifting and joyous holiday albums in the spirit of the season. However, some people have darker holiday spirit than others. Hate Eternal bassist J.J. Hrubovcak has teamed up with his brother Mike, who is the vocalist for Monstrosity and Vile, for 'Death Metal Christmas - Hellish Renditions of Christmas Classics.'

The EP will be released Nov. 29, with the pre-order beginning Nov. 15 at this location. The album is not a novelty or parody, it's a death metal album that happens to feature some of the most beloved Christmas hymns of all time with a death metal twist. You can listen to the opening track 'Unrest For Melancholy Men' below.

While the music is based on the original Christmas songs, the lyrics have been altered to portray a possible future outcome to mankind's current path and focus on Azrael, the angel of death in some Islam, Sikhism and Hebrew lore.

Hrubovcak talks about 'Unrest For Melancholy Men:' "At this stage in the story, the earth is in great turmoil, thus the melancholy men who can get no rest from their suffering. Cultures from around the world are looking for answers. The song lyrics basically warn the human race that this demon is now born and will seduce every last mind on this planet into altering their morals and convictions to suit his purpose unless man refocuses. He is not at all direct but very insidious."

Erik Rutan, Hrubovcak's Hate Eternal bandmate, engineered the album.
