Think you reside in one of the coolest small towns in America? Then now's the time to step up as an ambassador for your community and perform your civic duty by pridefully nominating your Anywhere, USA.

For the seventh straight year, the people at Budget Travel are looking for unsung portions of the great American landscape that standout above all others of their kind in an attempt to compile their list of America’s Coolest Small Towns.

What defines a cool small town?

For starters, your small town must have a population under 10,000. If that box is checked, then the only other thing you'll need is some sort of unusual and charming quality or feature that cannot be found elsewhere. Really, it could be anything—a classic car museum, for example.

Once the nominations are in, Budget Travel will select 10 front-runners to compete for the title of Coolest Small Town. Many towns have already begun submitting, so it's time to get to work on building the case for your picturesque little village.

Winners of the last Coolest Small Towns contest included Beaufort, North Carolina, and Hammondsport, New York.
