Traffic Slowdowns Expected On Fort Sill Boulevard This Week

Traffic may be moving a bit slower this week near Cache Road and Fort Sill Boulevard as crews begin making repairs to the Cache Road bridge. The City of Lawton recently announced that the project would take place this week and would lead to multiple lane closures.

On Monday, February 17, the City of Lawton began blocking off traffic on Cache Road and Fort Sill Boulevard for crews to begin repairs to the barrier walls along the Cache Road bridge over Fort Sill Boulevard.

Lane and full road closures to Cache Road and Fort Sill Boulevard are expected this week.

During the bridge repairs, drivers can expect temporary closures to the inside lanes of Fort Sill Boulevard and one westbound lane on Cache Road. Full road closures are also expected throughout the week.

According to a press release from the City of Lawton, temporary road closures will be scheduled during non-peak hours and should only last about 20 minutes. The road closures should avoid school drop-off, pick-times and lunch periods at Central Middle School.

During the full road closures, crews will have detours set up using the on- and off- ramps to keep traffic moving.

The City of Lawton expects the repairs to the Cache Road bridge to be completed by Friday, February 20, weather permitting.
