Oklahoma City is great and all, but how great is it compared to the rest of America's state capitals?

According to a recent WalletHub study, OKC is actually one of the best. It was ranked #11 on a list of 50 state capitals. And they have their own reasons for ranking OKC the way they did.

But if you live in Oklahoma, how do you believe OKC compares to other places in the country? Should we have more pride for the Sooner state than we do?

Where Oklahoma City Ranked Among State Capitals

WalletHub's study focused on measurable "quality of life" metrics to determine which places in America were better to live than others. They scored and compared each city's affordability, economic well-being, quality of education and health, and quality of life.

Scores were based on metrics and numbers they got from state and federal levels. But they notably did not include personal testimony from Oklahomans actually living here, just statistics. Best State Capitals to Live In Source: WalletHub

According to the numbers, Oklahoma City is one of the most affordable cities to live, with a high economic well-being compared to the rest of the country's state capitals. But there are things to consider about living in Oklahoma that people moving here should be aware of that the numbers don't show.

What the Numbers Don’t Show About Living in Oklahoma

Of course, each state has its own downfalls. Between crime rates, state taxes, government, etc., no one place is perfect - no matter what the numbers say.

But, numbers don't explain all of the good things about living somewhere.

Numbers don't explain the welcoming attitude most people here in Oklahoma. It's not uncommon to talk to people you don't know, wave at others you've never met, or even to stop to help a stranger on the side of the road.

Statistics don't accurately depict the talent that lives in Oklahoma. The enormous amount of musicians, artists, creators, innovators, and hard workers that live here undoubtedly beats many other places.

Oklahoma City specifically is one of the best places to discover the best talent in Oklahoma. The city's top music venues, comedy venues, and entertainment venues only hire the best talent in the state.

Granted, Oklahoma doesn't have as many attractions as larger states, but it isn't impossible to find things to enjoy. We have a little of everything across the state: lakes, mountains, forests, and plains.

Is Oklahoma City Underrated?

Personally, Oklahoma is the perfect place to call home because of the people, the environment, the attitude about life, and the slow-paced living, even in Oklahoma City.

There is no shortage of things to do in OKC.
