It’s Opening Weekend For Oklahoma’s Most Interactive Exotic Zoo
How often do you visit lemurs, kangaroos and monkeys? That answer might spike just a little more after this weekend, which happens to be opening weekend for Oklahoma's most interactive exotic zoo, Snider Family Exotics. This hidden gem just outside of Sterling, Oklahoma is getting ready for the busy season and the animals are ready to see all of the visitors.
April 12 & 13 is opening weekend for the interactive zoo in southwest Oklahoma.
Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13, Snider Family Exotics will be back open for the 2025 Spring season to the general public. Here, visitors will be able to meet, handle and hold some of the most unique animals you won't find anywhere in the wild in Oklahoma.
Where most zoos will allow you to watch the animals from a distance, sometimes allowing folks to interact in small doses, Snider Family Exotics has numerous animals that can be fed and pet - and that's not just including their petting zoo.
The zoo isn't just about petting the animals, learn about them, too.
During the week, they keep the park closed off to the public to allow schools and organizations to bring groups of 30 or more guests to learn about the animals they care for. Although interacting with the animals is extremely entertaining for everyone, Snider Family Exotics staff care just as much as about educating their visitors about the animals and what it takes to keep these exotics comfortable in Oklahoma.
Visitors should know animals will be able to touch you, too.
Most visits generally start off with a greeting from Sammy, the zoo's spider monkey who rides with his mom and zoo owner, Christina Snider. When you get to the front office, you'll have the option to purchase feeding cups for several of the animals throughout the zoo. Keep in mind that not all of the animals eat the feed in the cup, so pay close attention to the guides when you arrive.
