A viral video showed an inmate hanging out the back window of a prison transport van. Many thought it was fake, but The Oklahoma Department of Corrections confirmed it was real.

You never know what to expect driving down a highway in Oklahoma. Actually, you can expect many potholes, but several cars spotted something they have never seen before. It looks like on Tuesday last week, folks driving on I-40 in Oklahoma witnessed a man hanging out the back of a prison transport van.

As you can see the man is handcuffs and his orange prison shirt is hanging from his arms. He's unable to remove it because of the handcuffs. Drivers were worried the man was going to attempt to jump, but the van eventually pulled over on the highway. Some were saying this was fake or staged for a viral video. No, this actually happened.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections Statement on Prison Transport

“During a routine transport, an inmate damaged the vehicle and was seen hanging out the back window. Our officers immediately recognized the situation, exited the highway and called for additional law enforcement support. The inmate was safely secured and transported without further incident. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections remains committed to transparency, accountability and ensuring the safety of all individuals in our care and all Oklahomans.”

Looks like a cage is not in between the windows and inside of the vehicle as many would expect in a prison transport or maybe this guy is low level offender that they didn't expect to run. Either way, pretty scary thing to be seeing while you're driving down the highway.
