Tool continue to inch toward completion of their new album, revealing that bassist Justin Chancellor is "making great progress" recording his parts for the long-awaited LP. Granted, it's just a picture of his bass pedal setup in the studio, which can be viewed below, but at this point, we'll take any morsel of information we can get on the record.

"Justin's bass setup in the studio," reads the caption on the photo posted to the band's official Facebook page. "Sounds like he is making great progress recording in 'a great studio.'"

“We’re about 90-percent there, it’s been like a crazy science project, kind of like a petri dish,” Chancellor said a year ago about the band's fifth album. “We’ve just been really picky over what we want to put on this new album and really want to come up with something completely unique. Plus, we have endless amounts of material to sift through, so it’s just been a process - a little different from last time.”

The last album from Tool, 10,000 Days, came out a dozen years ago. The band have performed in recent years, but haven't released any new material. Last fall, drummer Danny Carey intimated that the band was looking at a 2018 release. Carey looks to have completed all the drum tracking for the album. Tool officially entered the studio this past March.  It's also known that they've been working with producer Joe Barresi.

Frontman Maynard James Keenan ribbed his bandmates onstage during their performance at Northern Invasion last month about completing the LP.  Revealing why he chooses to dress in tactical gear, Keenan said, "I'm afraid of bananas and other forms of fruit because eventually you wonderful people are going to run out of fucking patience. So I beg you Danny, Adam, and Justin, please finish your parts so I can finish mine."
