Tuesday morning, Sgt Stephanie Crawford and Officer Dustin Dye of the Community Policing Unit of Lawton PD stopped by the KLAW studio to talk about the upcoming golf tournament to be held in conjunction with the Cops N Kids Picnic. The tournament, which will be held on Monday, Sept. 11th at the Lawton Country Club is a first for the division, and will be used a fundraiser for the picnic, replacing the annual Poker Run, which was rained out earlier in the year.

Sgt Crawford told how the event came about, and how they are hoping to change some of the events held in the past, hoping to make them a little more "weather friendly" as this is the second time in the last three years that the Poker Run had been cancelled due to rain. The community got involved and the idea for the tournament evolved quickly.

To sign up for the inaugural event, please contact Sgt Crawford at 580 251-6727, Officer Dye at 580 512-3165 or Sgt Matt Dimmick at 580 251-7081. The Cops N Kids Picnic will be held the following Saturday, Sept 16th at Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton.
