Machine Head Frontman Counters ‘Do or Die’ Criticism, Plagiarism Claims

Machine Head vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn has issued a statement condemning those he called "Internet troll motherfuckers" over criticism concerning the band's recently released new song "Do or Die."

Issued last Friday (Oct. 11) alongside a vivid music video, "Do or Die" — Machine Head's first fresh track in nearly two years — contains lyrics claiming there's no metal band the Flynn-fronted rockers "ain't influenced." It also features a refrain with the lyrics, "Die, motherfucker, die," which some have reportedly compared to those in nu-metal act Dope's 2001 song "Die MF Die." But the Machine Head frontman took to social media to counter both general criticism of the new tune as well as plagiarism claims. Read Flynn's full message down toward the bottom of this post.

"To all the bitchass internet troll motherfuckers who keep whining and menstrating [sic] about how 'Do or Die' has lyrics from the band Dope," Flynn responded Monday (Oct. 14). "Here's a little fucking reminder for your moronic nu-metal-brain's, since 1993 in our song 'fuck at all' I’ve been saying 'c'mon motherfucker c'mon' in the middle break down. Here's video of me in 1995 saying it at Dynamo!"

He continued elsewhere in the screed, "And if I hear one more fucking Internet twathole moaning about 'cringe worthy lyrics' while they sit in front of their computers stroking their little fucking boners to the lyrical genius of fucking BABYMETAL, eat a bowl of cock!"

Complaints first cropped up online comparing the words shared among Machine Head's song and Dope's track, as told by Blabbermouth. Some also apparently scourged Flynn's song lyrics as "cringeworthy."

Machine Head recently announced new band members Vogg Kiełtyka (guitar) and Matt Alston (drums). The pair — who replace past members Phil Demmel and Dave McClain, respectively — perform alongside Flynn and Machine Head bassist Jared MacEachern during the career portion of the band's ongoing "Burn My Eyes" 25th anniversary tour, which hits the States next year. A classic Burn My Eyes-era set finds early members Logan Mader (guitar) and Chris Kontos (drums) joining in for a performance of their 1994 debut in full.
