When it comes to buying fireworks, it's a lot like buying fishing lures. They're aimed at catching anglers, not so much the fish. At least that's how I see it. It's all about the packaging. We're naturally drawn to what we see as funny or awesome, and the art of fireworks is hilariously unhinged this year.

The biggest question American patriots ask before every 4th of July is, what does that firework do? What does it look like? Is it worth spending my money on?

In all the times I've asked, I've never had a fireworks salesman under the temporary tent tell me "Nah, it's not so good." That's the lesson we learn later when we light them off.

There's a much better way in 2025.

On a whim, we went down to King Fireworks in Geronimo, Oklahoma, last week. It's not your typical Oklahoma fly-by-night fireworks tent set up on a gravel road just outside city limits, it's a brick-and-mortar warehouse packed to the gills with 100% Americana.

As you walk through the building, aisles of fireworks and shelves packed with big gram-cakes, you start to notice what sets this place apart from others.

There are tags throughout the store on the fireworks all of the staff have personally picked out as their favorites, the best bangs for your buck, but also a bunch of TVs and scanners.

When something catches your eye, scan it, and a video pops up showing you exactly what it looks like.

We really are living in the future.

All across Oklahoma, as we prepare to celebrate our independence, the holiday comes down to the big question... Which fireworks are going to really impress?

I walked around King Fireworks with Chris-Ann, and she gave me the lowdown. The top picks for 2025.

They're not all huge gram-cakes, some are under $20 and still really impressive, others are loved by the kids, and they'll all make you feel 100% American for the night.

Big thanks to King Fireworks in Geronimo, Oklahoma, for letting us invade their space this week to take photos and ask a million questions. They're super-helpful and experts on things that go boom! For your holiday, consider stopping in to browse the selection. Feel free to ask questions, they love fireworks just as much as you and me.

2025's Hottest Fireworks Picks

Shopping for fireworks is a lot like picking out a new vehicle. While you're interested in what a car or truck can do, we generally pick based on how they look. The fireworks store is full of sensory-overload designs and hilarious images, but logos rarely tell you what it does. We visited King Fireworks in Geronimo, OK, where they have a cool scanner system that pulls up the fireworks on TVs throughout the store so you can see what you're buying, but here are their top picks and best bangs for your buck this year.

Oklahoma's Best 4th of July Celebrations

There's nothing like celebrating America's independence in the heartland, and Oklahoma practically overflows with patriotism across the state. While most towns have their own celebrations, some are larger than others. Since it would be hard to catch all of them in one day, they're spread out a bit over two and a half weeks, pick one or more and let your American flag fly.
