It was another tough weekend for Sooner Nation across the state. Fresh off an unexpected loss at home to Kansas State, OU could not regroup on the road in Fort Worth. TCU looked absolutely dominant, putting on a performance that might be OU's worst beating since Bedlam 2011.

As history typically repeats itself, the loudest voices in the OU fan base now call for coach firings as retribution for their second loss in a row.

While it seems fans are unsure and still on the fence with Head Coach Brent Venables, which is weird since he's actually won a few national titles since OU had their last, the ire seems to point at defensive coordinator Ted Roof... another National Championship winning coach... but someone has to take responsibility for ruining a winning tradition is the overall mindset.

Keep in mind, these are the same fans that called for Lincoln Riley to be fired after every loss, yet called the man a traitor for hopping off the schooner when OU decided to chase money in the SEC, but there's more to Sooner Nation than that.

winningest coach ever
Some people refuse to believe that OU is settling into what every sports publication regularly calls "a rebuilding season." It wasn't long ago that the fan base constantly said after every loss "Bob Stoops has to go." When he finally went, that same fan base wished only that he'd come back. Stoops has now grown in his deserving reputation as the greatest OU coach to have ever put on the white visor...

Fans forgave and forgot about Stoops first year 5-6 losing season and second year paltry 7-5 season, mostly because he led the team to a perfect 13-0 and their last National Championship winning season. Time heals all wounds. The Sooners are going to have a tough year or two. You can't be a bandwagon fan, you have to support your teams efforts. Take the Dallas Cowboys for instance. Annoying fans, sure... but they are dedicated to a fault. That team hasn't amounted to anything in 25 years, yet the fans still show up dressed in silver and blue even when they know the team is going to continue to suck. They dem boys.

All the same, if you can't accept what will be a short-demise of your favorite team, trade that crimson and cream in for orange and black. Life is way better being an OSU Cowboy fan... because when we lose we don't call for coach firings. We shrug it off and say things like "We'll get em next week."

Go Pokes.
