Every once in awhile I'll do a lunch break and take a quick trip through the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. For me it's a great way to clear my head, take a short break from work and recharge. Yesterday I decided I'd take my lunch break and did just that. Now when I do this I always go the back way through Cache. I'll make a stop, grab a burger and a drink then take the back way through the mountains. It's the perfect scenic route and it only takes around 45 minutes to do so I can fit it in a workday lunch easy.

I was doing this yesterday and made my usual stop in Cache to grab a bite to eat before heading to the mountains. As I was leaving Cache I passed by the old Eagle Park sign next to the Trading Post. I had to pull in and take a quick picture and couldn't help but smile at all the memories that came back. Eagle Park was a fantastic place and as a kid I spent lots of time there, especially during the KLAW Chili Cook Offs. Those were the days. I wish someone would fix it back up and re-open it someday.

Eagle Park was the BEST! There were carnival rides, a skating rink, they'd do rodeos there, car shows, of course the chili cook off and all kinds of other cool stuff. I remember all the good times camping and spending weekends there. The best was the KLAW Chili Cook Off! There's nothing like chili, carnival rides and live music! It was awesome and if you were here during that time and went, you know what I'm talking about.

Maybe someday someone will fix it back up and re-open Eagle Park, that would be epic! I'd love to take my kids there and relive some of those "good old days."
