Update #2: Police found cocaine on the tour bus where Scott Weiland was found dead, and his bassist Tommy Black has been arrested. Details here.

Update #1: TMZ has reportedly obtained audio of communications between the Bloomington, Minn., police department and the Hennepin County sheriff's department that reveals that Weiland was not breathing when they arrived on the scene. The dispatcher conveyed that Weiland had possibly gone into cardiac arrest as the immediate cause of death. However, the underlying cause of death has yet to be revealed.

There's absolutely tragic news to report as former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland died Thursday night (Dec. 3) at the age of 48. The news has been confirmed with an official statement posted on the rocker's social media sites.

KNAC.com first reported that Weiland was found dead earlier this evening on his tour bus by his personal manager. No cause of death was immediately given. Weiland and his band the Wildabouts were set to play the Medina Ballroom in Bloomington, Minn., tonight, but the show was canceled.

The singer's wife Jamie confirmed Weiland's passing to the Los Angeles Times, sobbing as she stated, "I can't deal with this right now. It's true." Weiland's manager Tom Vitorino also confirmed to the paper that the singer had passed, but did not offer any further details.

According to Billboard, the Bloomington, Minn. Police Department issued a statement at 11:15PM PT detailing the events. According to the statement, on Dec. 3 at 8:22PM, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male in a recreational motor vehicle located in the 2200 block of Killebrew Drive. "Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased," read the release, which did not identify the deceased.

Weiland has famously battled substance abuse over the years, though there has not been any confirmation that this had anything to do with his passing. A posting on Weiland's Facebook account offered the following message: "Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected." That post can be seen below.

Loudwire had just reviewed Weiland's show in New York City recently and we are absolutely devastated to hear the news. Our deepest condolences to Scott Weiland's family, friends and bandmates.
