Slipknot Share Cryptic Countdown to Thursday on Band Website [Update]

Slipknot shared a cryptic video Monday evening (May 13) with a familiar rallying call for Maggots ("We are not your kind") and a link to the band's official website. There, the site displays what appears to be a countdown timer, with digits culminating in a rendering of this Thursday, May 16.

The video features quick flashes of Slipknot's members and their masks — some images which appear to have been taken from previously released band photos, but others that look like new creations. Also accompanying the minute-long clip is an eerie, instrumental soundtrack, which contains a series of clanging noises. Listen for six ominous clinks, which repeat six times.

When you first click over to the Slipknot website, you'll see a succession of numbers flashing on the screen before landing on "0516," suggesting that something big is coming May 16, which is, of course, this Thursday.

The band are due to perform their first show of 2019 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Friday, May 17 at 11:35 p.m. ET, following lead vocalist Corey Taylor's recent knee surgery. See Slipknot's upcoming tour dates after the post:

Update: In advance of Thursday's announcement, Slipknot have continued to issue new teases. Following on the heels of the "We Are Not Your Kind" tease earlier this week, the band has followed with quick hitting videos titled "How Dare You Martyr Me" and "You've Killed the Saint in Me."
