"Barbie" the Movie

Let's start off with "Barbie" because I raised girls and I know how impactful Barbie has been on young girl's lives. Although, the "Barbie" movie is rated PG-13, so maybe don't take your little, little ones. It looks like this movie is for the older Barbie fans. Barbie has been around since the early 1950s, and based on the trailer, it looks like we'll see some familiar Barbies from our childhoods!

Here's a brief synopsis of "Barbie" the movie:

Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, the soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer"

Now for those who are obsessed with big Hollywood films or are history buffs, then "Oppenheimer" is the summer movie for you. Here's what "Oppenheimer" is all about: "The story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb."

Movies are a great summer activity!

We all know that summers in Oklahoma can be HOT, so one activity that the whole family can enjoy in the air conditioning is a trip to the movie theater. But over the years, this activity has gotten pretty expensive. In Lawton, there's only two places to see a movie in theaters, and The Vaska Theatre is Lawton's only locally owned movie theater!

According to The Vaska Theatre's website, you can see a matinee showing of "Barbie" or "Oppenheimer" (or both!) for just $5 for a matinee showing! Now that's a steal. The Vaska Theatre's matinee shows are any movie showing before 6 p.m. If you're planning a date night or a late movie, after 6 p.m. adult tickets go up to $7 but children 12 and younger, military, seniors and first responders can still get tickets for $5. You honestly still can't beat those movie prices.

Plus, they have a deliciously affordable snack menu.
