The ‘Friends In Low Places’ Metal Cover Is Pretty Awesome
If you remember way back in the 90's, Garth Brooks was universally on top of the world. He was the first modern country rocker. Sold out stadiums across the world, went everywhere, did everything. Naturally, he got bored. So, against the advice of probably everyone around him, he thought he'd pull a page from Kenny Rogers book and whip out an alter-ego to sell more records in a different genre. Unlike Kenny Rogers, even though the music was acceptable, it was a huge failure.
As hindsight is always 20/20, had his adventure into a weird mesh of pop/rock/emo ended up like this, it might have been a very different story. Look at some of the top country rockers now. It's not strange to here a few AC/DC or Metallica songs at a Brad Paisley or Kieth Urban show these days. They just get on stage and jam. Imagine what could have been with Oklahoma's second favorite son...
