Congrats are in order for Travis Barker, as the Blink-182 drummer and music producer has just won his first ASCAP Pop Music Award. The song that did it for Barker was Machine Gun Kelly's "my ex's best friend," which Barker is credited as writing. The song was published by Beat Poet Music and BMG.

ASCAP is the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and this week they announced the winners of their annual awards, celebrating the biggest hits and most performed songs of the past year. Pop star Olivia Rodrigo was named during the ceremony as the Songwriter of the Year, while Sony Music Publishing took home the Publisher of the Year honors. Dua Lipa's "Levitating" was named as the Song of the Year.

Aside from the big three honors, certain tracks were singled out for recognition, with the Barker-penned "my ex's best friend" from Machine Gun Kelly's Tickets to My Downfall album being among them. "my ex's best friend" was the third single from the album, faring well in multiple genres. The track hit No. 2 on Billboard's Rock Airplay chart, No. 3 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart and was No. 2 on the Hot Rock and Alternative Songs Chart. It has reached triple platinum status as a single in the time since its 2020 release.

Barker, who produced MGK's Tickets to My Downfall, most recently returned to produce and play on Kelly's latest album, Mainstream Sellout, which arrived just last month. The drummer acknowledged the honor by posting about it in his Instagram stories.
