Trent Reznor is busier than ever, with his side gig scoring film projects with his collaborator Atticus Ross continuing to fill those down moments between Nine Inch Nails releases and touring. According to Variety, the pair's latest scoring project will be the film Waves from writer/director Trey Edward Shults (It Comes at Night).

The film is being described as a dramatic musical putting a fresh spin on the life of a contemporary teen, following two young couples as they grow up and fall in love. The movie will reportedly be almost entirely synchronized to music.

Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges will star as one of the teens, while Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown has taken a role in the film as well. The movie starts production in Florida next month, with the remaining cast still being filled out.

After delving into the film world first by producing the soundtrack for Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers, Reznor eventually transitioned to film scoring, receiving award recognition for their work on such films as The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Other Reznor/Ross scoring projects have included the films Gone Girl and Patriots Day as well as the documentaries Before the Flood and The Vietnam War.

Reznor and Ross continue to work as part of Nine Inch Nails, recently releasing Bad Witch. There is plenty of touring ahead for the remainder of the year and dates can be found here.
