Walmart+ vs Amazon Prime: Which Is Better?

Every year, it seems like we get a new subscription we "need."

Streaming services. Food delivery. Apps that somehow charge us every month for things we forgot we signed up for.

Then there's the battle that has quietly become a big one for Oklahoma shoppers.

Walmart+ vs Amazon Prime.

Which one is actually better?

I know what you're thinking... "It depends."

That's the standard, generic, covers-all answer... And that's no fun. Let's pick a winner.

For Oklahoma, Walmart+ makes a strong argument.

Why?

Because Walmart is everywhere. If you need something right now and don't want to have to wait on 2-5 day Prime shipping, you can pop in and grab it. Instant gratification. On top of that, Walmart and Amazon sell pretty much all of the same stuff at a similar price.

Where Walmart really edges out Prime is grocery delivery to your doorstep. It's pretty dang convenient, especially when you don't want to fight the Walmart crowds.

Walmart has stepped up the added value game in the last year, offering your choice of free Peacock or Paramount+ streaming included with your WM+ subscription. You also get a discount on gasoline. A very hot commodity at the moment.

How does Amazon Prime stack up?

Amazon used to be the king of "I need this random thing that nobody around here sells." Weird cables. Replacement part for something built in the late 1900s. The one random thing you can't find on Walmart.com...

That's the very narrow lane where Prime wins, but it also comes with issues.

Amazon seems to flow in and out of shipping options that feel "prime." 2-days is the standard they set long ago, but more and more, even if you were guaranteed 2-day shipping, it's pretty common that you'll be notified it's running late into day 3 or 4 or 5.

Does that happen with Walmart too? Sure. They don't have any control over UPS or FedEx... But since Walmart owns its expansive network of shipping and fulfillment, a huge majority of items purchased online at Walmart arrive at your local store and get delivered by local, independent couriers.
