Anvil, Raven and several other bands are the latest to pitch in to help out East Coast fans in the aftermath of last year's Superstorm Sandy. The acts will take part in Rock N' Roll Heaven and the Old Bridge Metal Militia's planned reunion and charity benefit taking place in Freehold, N.J., this coming May.

Rock N' Roll Heaven was a record store owned by MegaForce Records founder Jon Zazula, while Old Bridge Metal Militia were a collective of metalheads that helped out young bands in the early stages of metal. Both were key entities in the building of the metal scene in New Jersey in the '80s and '90s, and are using their brand names to help bring attention the event. The show will feature Anvil, Raven, the Rods and Lords of Mercy playing the Encore Event Center in Freehold, N.J., on May 11.

'That Metal Show' host Eddie Trunk will emcee the event, and those attending are asked to bring canned or non-perishable food items for a food drive that will help out local soup kitchens and shelters.

Rock N' Roll Heaven's founders Jon and Marsha Zazula stated, "It's really great to bring the Militia together again and we look forward to seeing all of the old faces and new faces, both young and old. We've already heard that fans are coming in from Germany and even up from Florida. They don't even know the lineup yet, that's how cool this is! We can't wait to bang with the best of them for this really good cause."

Anvil's Steve "Lips" Kudlow adds, "Doing this gig in New Jersey is exceptionally special to Anvil. We are expecting to see many of the original people we met back in '82 when we played the Route 18 Flea Market. We have remained close friends through the metal ages … We look forward to our moments together. See you all soon."
