There are so many Marvel heroes in Captain America: Civil War that it almost feels more like a bridge between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Infinity War than a Cap sequel. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo did a fine job of giving each hero a chance to shine — something that was particularly evident in the airport sequence, in which we saw pretty much everyone fighting each other in various combinations. The one combo we didn’t get was Black Widow and Cap, but a new animatic from an unused scene gives you an idea of what that might have been like.

Via Movie Pilot, storyboard artist Darrin Denlinger has shared a concept animatic from Civil War that shows a fight between Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Chris Evans’ Captain America. The opening of the scene did make it into the final film, with Ant-Man getting an assist from Cap for that big truck trick, but the subsequent fight between Natasha and Steve was ultimately cut for time.

Still, the animatic gives us a good picture of what this scene might have been like, with Steve smartly blocking one of Natasha’s signature moves as the two battle it out amid the chaos. It could have been cool to watch these two fight, especially since they know each other’s moves and motives so well. Maybe next time.

Civil War is still in theaters, and recently crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide.
