Comic-Con 2016: ‘South Park’ Rings in Season 20 With Fan Experience
South Park will kick off a landmark 20th season this coming fall, and as such, no better home than Comic-Con 2016 would help celebrate Matt and Trey’s creations in style. Comedy Central has set full panel plans for South Park, along with a “South Park 20 Experience,” interactive exhibits, video games and more.
Foremost among the major celebration, Friday, July 22 will see Chris Hardwick hosting a “South Park 20” panel in Hall H at 5:00 P.M., both to “discuss the evolution of the series over the last two decades, take questions from fans and provide an exclusive sneak peek of ‘South Park: The Fractured But Whole.’”
Along with a fan-experience exhibit at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Promenade Park, across from the Convention Center:
The centerpiece of the celebration, “South Park 20 Experience,” will allow fans to explore and insert themselves into 20 iconic and fan favorite scenes. Visitors can recharge their bodies, minds and devices at the Hulu Viewing Lounge, which will be screening episodes across all seasons of “South Park.” “The Coon & Friends Experience” from Ubisoft featuring real-world items from the highly-anticipated new video game, “South Park: The Fractured But Whole” will be open to explore. Twenty unique artists will honor “South Park’s” 20th season with new work that has been curated by world-renowned pop culture artist Ron English. Fans can also visit a retrospective gallery featuring original animation cells from the pilot episode of “South Park.” All this and much, much more will be available at the “South Park 20 Experience.”
Of course, there’s no need to worry about South Park’s legacy beyond Comic-Con 2016, given a prior three-season renewal into 2019, while Matt Stone and Trey Parker have suggested the series could easily live on in video games, or a second movie.
In the meantime, South Park has already set a Season 20 premiere date for September 14, 2016, while you can watch the full Fractured But Whole (will never not be fun to say) trailer below, as we prepare for Comic-Con 2016.
