War never changes, so Speedrunner Rydou was able to beat Fallout 3 in just 18 minutes and 53 seconds. We were still a kid in Vault 101 by then.

Bethesda Game Studios' third installment to the Fallout series has given players five years to practice their speedruns and Speedrunner Rydou has definitely taken advantage of every second. Kotaku reports that Rydou has managed to beat the open world action-role playing game in a brisk 18 minutes and 53 seconds. Of course, as with most speedruns, Rydou used a number of shortcuts to get through the game, but it's still pretty amazing how quickly and accurately he used these tactics to win.

"Everytime you quickload, the collision detection doesn't work during something like 10 frames, allowing me to clip through objects and walls," Rydou was quick to explain on Reddit.

Although the speedrun isn't exactly what most fans would consider a thorough playthrough of the game, Rydou spends a pretty ample amount of time keeping himself away from combat, which is the name of the game for speedruns. The amount of time taken to figure out these little tricks and glitches that are integrated into the gameplay shows just how much time these players have put into the game, which shows a new level of understanding that many normal, players may not have have realized.

While Rydou's only previous competition for the game was himself and this new run-through is only clocking in at four seconds less than his previous world record, it's still awesome to hear.
