The Most Famous People Born In Lawton, Oklahoma

When it comes to the topic of fame and Oklahoma, there's no shortage of famous Okies in our short history.

Famed lawmen, military members, artists, and actors fill the page. We still claim Brad Pitt because he spent his first few years in Shawnee, but it's a technicality.

Musicians are by far the largest segment of famed Oklahomans. Garth Brooks, Reba, Toby Keith, All American Rejects, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney Larue, Jason Boland, the original Hinder band lineup... The list is endless, but it gets quite a bit shorter when you break it all into the individual towns.

We've had some really notable military members born and raised here in L-town. General Jack Merritt gained fame as an Army enlisted Private turned 4-Star General by the end of his storied career.

Lawton also produced one of America's top WWII Ace pilots. Lt. Col. Robert Johnson took to the skies over Europe, downing 27 German planes before his flying time came to an end. A record at the time, as the golden era of aerial dog-fighting came to an end.
