Before he was president, Supreme Allied Commander General Eisenhower proved he could rally the troops with his words. With some 156k troops set to either jump or march into Normandy, Ike had to choose his words wisely, and those words are still referenced today across the world to life spirits and inspire greatness.

What you may not know is this... Nobody knew if Operation Overlord was going to be a success. In fact, they knew if the war would start or end on that day depending on the success or failure. So, Dwight Eisenhower wrote two different speeches to give in the hours following launch to let the world know if tyranny was going to stand or not. Luckily, it fell to the mighty allied sword.
